Here are some verses and passages from the Bible that some of our church attendees find helpful inspirational

My favorite Bible verse in John 13:34“Just like I have loved you, you also should love one another”.  I like this verse because, in this time of divisiveness and polarization, it reminds me that Jesus said we should be doing just the opposite of the behavior we see exhibited by many of the people we look to as leaders.

My second favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9“Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”  The Lord spoke these words to Joshua just after Moses death.  Joshua was a new untested leader and he was about to lead the people across the Jordan river to a new promised land.  I can hardly imagine how scary and uncertain this was for Joshua and the people of Israel to be crossing a river into uncertain territory being.  Whenever I’m faced with a similar situation (a new challenge, a new task, something uncertain, going to a new place) I remember this verse that God is with me wherever I go.

Psalm 91 reminds me that God is looking out for us and sends his angels to us in times of need.  Psalm 91:11-12For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.  On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.

Jeremiah 29:11-14:  – For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.  Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you.  When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart.  I will let you find me, says the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord. and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.  This is the scripture of my call into Ministry. I grew up in a conservative Christian upbringing.  I got lost and separated from God for some time.  I was miserable and depressed but God wooed me back, then I began to hear his voice and the Holy Spirit let me to the cross where God and I had a covenant to love each other forever.  It was my day of conversion and acceptance of God’s call.  God brought me back to the place where he carried me into exile. Home, with God!
